WHERE I COME FROM
Hello, I'm Diezel DePew, the youngest elected official in Florida's history and the current mayor of Edgewater. My passion for politics began early, advocating for conservative principles since second grade. I actively participated in Southeast Volusia Republicans meetings and commission meetings from the age of 12, unafraid to express my viewpoints.
A THRIVING CAREER
Mayor Diezel DePew achieved a historic milestone on November 8, 2022, by becoming the youngest elected official in the history of the State of Florida. A proud native of Edgewater, he has always harbored a deep love for his community and a fervent passion for politics.
At the age of 12, Mayor DePew established a lawn and landscaping business, displaying an early entrepreneurial spirit. When faced with adversity due to the theft of his equipment, the community rallied together to donate the necessary tools, allowing him to rebuild and expand his business. In gratitude, he made a commitment to repay the community's support by becoming a dedicated leader for the people of Edgewater, ensuring their voices were heard.
Mayor DePew continued his journey of leadership as the Class President at New Smyrna Beach High School, graduating with honors in the class of 2022. Currently enrolled in college, he is pursuing a degree in political science with a major in public administration, furthering his dedication to public service and community representation.
MISSION STATEMENT
Volusia Deserves a United GOP
Witnessing the division in the Republican Party of Volusia County, I'm committed to uniting and strengthening it to victory. I aim to encourage student and teen voter registration and involve the younger generation in our modern-day political arena.
As a proud member of West Volusia Young Republicans, I've attended numerous Turning Point USA events nationwide to engage my constituents. Now, I support Run GenZ, an organization mentoring young leaders like me in political office across the country.
I humbly ask for your support and trust in this endeavor. Together, let's make Volusia County's Republican Party a stronger and more vibrant force for the values we hold dear.
